What We Do

Programs Offered at SWMO AHEC

Pipeline Recruitment- In-School Workshops

Our in-school recruitment program introduces healthcare career options to students in middle school and high school by taking resources into their classrooms, giving students early exposure to healthcare careers and training options, along with hands-on experience in medically based workshops.

Clinical Program

The clinical program at SWMO AHEC schedules DO students in clinical rotations in our 21-county coverage area. Various partners include Jordan Valley, Mercy and Cox, Citizens Memorial. We work closely with physician preceptors to understand the evolving needs for medical student training.

AHEC Scholars

A statewide, regionally-based program for health profession students to enhance practice preparedness. The program focuses on simulation and clinical experiences with content from topics in: Interprofessional Education, Social Determinants of Health, Cultural Competency, Practice Transformation, Behavioral Health, and Current/Emerging Issues.
